EAST LANSING (AP) -- Le'Veon Bell was a part-time running back his first two seasons at Michigan State, competing for carries with Edwin Baker and trying to make the most of his opportunities.

In the first game of this season, he seemed like the Spartans' entire offense at times.

Baker left the team after last season, leaving Bell as the team's top rushing threat. In Michigan State's 17-13 win over Boise State on Friday night, Bell had 44 carries for 210 yards and also caught six passes. It was one of the most impressive first-week performances by anyone in the country.

The 11th-ranked Spartans play at Central Michigan on Saturday.
