DETROIT -- Curtis Granderson snapped out of a short slump by hitting his 30th homer and driving four runs, helping the New York Yankees beat Detroit Tigers 12-8 Wednesday night and ending the Tigers' six-game winning streak.

Down 7-0, the Tigers chased CC Sabathia and closed to 8-7 in the seventh inning.

The AL East-leading Yankees, who had lost 12 of their previous 18 games, then pulled away.

Granderson batted sixth for the first time since May 15 because he had two straight 0-for-5 games and just four hits in his previous 25 at-bats. The lineup shakeup seemed to work as he had an RBI single in the first, a home run in the third and a double in the seventh.

The previous night, he popped up with runners on second and third to end a 6-5 loss to his former team.
