LAKE CITY -- The first Polar Plunge will take place Saturday to benefit the Special Olympics of Michigan.
More than 50 brave people in Lake City are preparing to jump into the icy water for the 2011 Law Enforcement torch Run (LETR) Polar Plunge.
The Lake City community is the first group to take the plunge to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Michigan athletes.
Plungers collect donations for Special Olympics, sport fun costumes and then jump into the frigid winter water. Awards are handed out for the most creative costume and the best jump into the water.
