A sex offender who is the husband of a former Traverse City coach is facing a misdemeanor charge for hanging around her players.

According to the Traverse City Area Public Schools, Jessica Buchner, a former volunteer second and third grade girls basketball coach at Cherry Knoll Elementary, left her students under the supervision of her husband, Jared Buchner.

Buchner is a registered sex offender.

Captain Meachum, from the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, says a warrant has been issued for Jared Buchner for a charge of working or loitering in a student safety zone.
