TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City Commissioners are trying to come up with more money to avoid scaling back the Clinch Park Revitalization Project.

Right now, City Officials say all the bids they've received for phase two, which includes construction of public restrooms and concession areas, have come in over budget.

The city has about $600,000 for phase two. But the lowest bid was $750,000.

At last night's meeting the city discussed two options. The first option would reduce the scope of the work to stay within budget, while the other option would mean finding more money to keep the plans unchanged.

Traverse City Mayor Michael Estes believes the funds can be found.

"I think we should explore that because I think everyone wants this project to be the best it can be and I think those initial plans were really looking for that to happen," Mayor Estes said.

At the end of last night's meeting, City Manager Ben Bifoss agreed to allow the commission to seek those additional funds.

The projected completion date for Phase Two may have to be pushed back.
