TRAVERSE CITY -- A northern Michigan animal service, that's goal is to save lives, provide hope, and establish a bright and positive future for all pets, celebrated a big birthday Sunday!

The Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City celebrated it's 56th Anniversary Sunday afternoon and it's 10th Anniversary of it's current facility.

To honor the anniversary, Cherryland hosted an educational open house featuring a mix of speakers, presentations and entertainment.

The humane society credits it's success to thousands of volunteers who donate countless hours of their time each year. Since it's creation in 1956 thousands of pets have found homes thanks to the hard work and dedication of Cherryland.
