Grandparents, grandchildren die in head on crash

Update: An account has been set up at Members Credit Union in Mancelona for the family of the child recovering from the crash. The name on the account is "The Benefit for John and Shelia Longpre." There is also a benefit dinner being planner at Mancelona Fire Station 1 on August 12th.

Authorities say a Mancelona couple and two of their gandchildren died from injuries sustained in a northern Indiana crash.
White County Sheriff Patrick Shafer tells WLFI-TV and the Lafayette Journal & Courier that 9 year old Erin Longpre of Indianapolis died Friday night at a Lafayette hospital.
Police say the crash also killed 67-year-old Ronald Longpre of Mancelona, Mich.; his wife, 62-year-old Sandra Longpre; and 13-year-old John Longpre II of Indianapolis.
Eleven-year-old Brandon Longpre of Indianapolis was in critical condition Saturday at Riley Hospital for Children.
Authorities say the car went left of center and sideswiped one pickup before crashing head-on into a second pickup. The crash occurred about a mile east of Reynolds and 75 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
The crash closed U.S. 24 several hours.
