Several beaches in northern Michigan are under water warnings after samples taken from the beaches showed high levels of contamination.

As of 2:00 pm, three beaches in Chippewa County were re-opened. These beaches include, Four Mile beach in Soo Township, Sherman Park in Sault Ste. Marie, Brimley State Park in Superior Township

Sugar Island Township Park in Sugar Island Township remains closed.

The advisory was lifted for the North Shore of Sugar Island and areas within the Waiska Bay and Back Bay in Superior and Bay Townships, as well.

In addition to the beach closures, the Chippewa County Health Department has also posted a "No Body Contact Advisory" for areas within the Waiska Bay and Back Bay. People in these areas should avoid body contact with surface waters.

In Mackinac County, two beaches are under after high levels of bacteria were found.  The beaches include Sand Point in Moran Township and Castle Rock Campground in St. Ignace.

In Roscommon County, two beaches are also under a water warning.  The beaches included Denton Township Public Beach. and North Higgins State Park.
