TRAVERSE CITY -- Update: Traverse City Police responded to an accident on Division street, south of 13th street. It was determined that a BATA bus, being driven by a 71-year-old Interlochen man was southbound on Division street. There was one passenger on the bus, a 67-year-old woman.
Southbound traffic on Division was backed up at the intersection of 14th street, and the BATA bus failed to stop striking the backside of a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old woman. This caused a chain reaction striking 2 more cars in front of the bus, pushing one into the northbound lanes of traffic. A northbound vehicle, then, left the road, striking a fence.
A 45-year-old Traverse City woman, in the third car involved, was transported to Munson for injuries. She has since been released.
The driver of the BATA bus was ticketed for speeding.
