Three hundred museums have been added to the list of museums offering free admission to active-duty veterans and their families. Nationwide, this brings the total to more than 1600 museums.
The program was launched in 2010 through Blue Star Families, an organization that is "by military families, for military families". Participating museums include art museums, science centers, history museums, nature centers and about 70 children's museums.
This offer runs from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
