GAYLORD, MI -- It's a sign that the economy is still in tough shape. Hundreds of people lined up in Otsego County today in hopes of finding a job.
Michigan Works held a job fair at the Gaylord Eagles today, but in maybe a glimmer of hope, about 10 more companies showed up this year compared to last, a total of 47 businesses looking for employees.
Michigan Works says this is a perfect chance for employees trying to get back into the work force.
"When an employer says what have you done for the past two years, they're going to say, uh, hm, so they need to increase their skills, it may not be their ideal job, but they can start building back their work history and that's very important for these employers out here to see work history," says Kathy Bradley of Michigan Works.
Otsego County has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state at about 12 percent.
More than 300 job seekers attended the job fair.
