If the gas prices aren't enough to put a dent in your wallet, an increase in auto insurance may do the trick.

Starting July 1st, drivers will pay an additional $30 a year per vehicle to care for accident victims with serious, long-term injuries. That would increase the premium to $175 a year.

The Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association announced the 21% increase last week.

Meanwhile a bill that would allow drivers to choose their own level of personal injury protection rather than mandating uncapped coverage is at a standstill in Lansing.
