TRAVERSE CITY -- There's a new non-stop service planned for airline customers flying out of Traverse City.

Delta Air Lines will offer inbound and outbound service for Atlanta, Georgia starting June 23.  Cherry Capital Airport officials say adding to the roster of flights at Cherry Capital Airport (TVC), the return of the additional summer service is an example of the continued commitment to the regional business traveler and tourism industry on behalf of Delta Air Lines.

"This enhanced service continues to demonstrate Delta's commitment to Northern Michigan by increasing the service options they provide. Delta is providing that key economic development tool our region desires. We have to respond and support this service, which will demonstrate our community's commitment and desire for these Delta services. With strong community support, the more likely it is that we will see enhanced service on behalf of the airlines", stated Kevin Klein, Airport Director.

The seasonal Saturday service will depart Atlanta at 10:15 a.m., arriving TVC at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.  Other Delta summer direct flights include New York (LGA), Detroit, and Minneapolis.

"This announcement demonstrates Delta's continuing confidence in and commitment to the Traverse City market. From a business perspective, it is another indicator to potential workforce and visitors to the area that northwest Michigan is a thriving, relevant economic center that is adding air service at a time when airlines are reducing service throughout their systems. We appreciate Delta Air Lines listening and responding positively to the region's requests concerning its presence at Cherry Capital Airport," explained Doug Luciani, President and CEO of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce.
