HARBOR SPRINGS/EMMET CO. -- This image taken from surveillance video from a gas station in Harbor Springs gives police hope that somebody will recognize the maroon four-door sedan or the man pumping gas.

Police believe this man is behind a rash of vehicle smash-and-grabs in Harbor Springs and Petoskey.

The suspect used a credit card he had stolen at the EZ Mart on M-119 near Harbor Springs and police think the surveillance image will lead them to a suspect.

"We're hoping that if somebody recognizes the car, or the person, or they think they might know who it is, they, we're asking them to call their local police, call us," says Harbor Springs Police Chief Dan Branson.

Branson says it's also suspicious that the vehicle backed out of the gas station after filling up.

Petoskey police tell us they believe the driver may have stolen a license plate to conceal the car.
