LEELANAU COUNTY -- Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City rescued a stranded man Saturday night from South Manitou Island.

The Coast Guard received reports of a stranded kayaker on South Manitou Island -- at around 4:00pm on Saturday.

Aircrews immediately boarded the rescue helicopter, and were able to locate -- and rescue the kayaker.

The man was taken back to the Air-station, where a medical team checked him out and he was released in good condition.

His name and age are not being released at this time.
