School canceled to honor Board President

KALKASKA -- Kalkaska Public Schools will be closed Monday, January 16th to honor the School Board President Jim Peters who died on Friday.

The Superintendent's office tells 7&4 News that 50 year-old Jim Peters died on Friday morning. Early reports indicate that he suffered a massive heart attack but that has not been confirmed yet. There will be no classes on Monday so that people can attend his funeral.

Visitation will be held at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, located at 106 S. Cherry St. in Kalkaska, Sunday from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.  The funeral will be held at 11:00am on Monday at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, located at 438 County Road 612 NE in Kalkaska.
