CADILLAC, MI -- A former Cadillac elementary school principal faces charges for possession of child pornography.
Cadillac Area Public Schools put Andy Brown on administrative leave before he resigned in November. The investigation began when the district's technology department discovered a breach during a routine check. The Michigan State Police say more than five disturbing pictures of pre-teenage children were discovered on his work lap top.
Thursday, Brown was arraigned in Wexford County on five counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
CAPS superintendent Paul Liabenow released this statement today:
"Mr. Brown's activity is deeply troubling and disappointing to our community. This type of conduct is wrong on the part of any person, but even more so on the part of someone who was in Brown's position. Brown was immediately dismissed and is no longer employed by Cadillac Area Public Schools."
Supt. Liabenow says following the state police investigation into the incident the district is confident that Brown's activity was limited to viewing images and that he did not engage in inappropriate behavior with students.
Jerry Sinkel will serve as the interim principal at Forest View.
