How far would you drive out of your way to save 19 cents on a gallon of gas? A Northern Michigan Senator has proposed a plan that could have you paying less at the pump by eliminating the state’s gas tax. That revenue currently goes to pay for road repairs. So how would the state cover those expenses? As it turns out, he calls for you to pay a little more somewhere else.

His proposal is the subject of this Fact Finder.

Would you be willing to pay more in sales tax in order to pay less at the pump? Leave a comment below.

Additional Information: Since Resolution N would require an amendment to the state's constitution, voters would have to approve the measure. To read all of Resolution N click here. Resolution N deals with changing the state's sales tax, there are two other related bills that would not require voter approval that would do away with the state's gas tax. All three would have to pass in order for any of them to take effect.
