Families across Michigan welcomed new additions to their families during the 8th Annual Adoption Day.

A day set aside by the Michigan Supreme Court and the Department of Human Services.

Eighteen adoptions were finalized today at the 86th District Court in Traverse City in order to celebrate and bring awareness to foster care and adoptions.

Judge David Stowe was moved by the days events. "It was extremely emotional for me to see this beautiful special needs child be adopted by a very special family. This is by far the best day of my year as a judge."

The 86th District Court was one of thirty courts in Michigan that participated in Adoption Day.

The children that were adopted aged from three months to eighteen years old.
