TRAVERSE CITY -- You can help keep the blood supply at a safe level for the busy holiday season, while getting help preparing for your holiday meal!

If you register to give blood at Michigan Blood's main donor centers Wednesday, you will get a free pie as a thank you gift. 

Thanks for Giving will be hosted in Traverse City at 2575 Aero Park Drive from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..

"The holidays are one of the most difficult times for us to connect with blood donors," said Allison Beers, public relations coordinator at Michigan Blood. "It is during times like these when we really go that extra mile to encourage donation in order to ensure an adequate blood supply for area hospitals."

Donors are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 1-800-MIBLOOD or visiting miblood.org.  Walk-ins are also welcome.
