TRAVERSE CITY -- During the holidays you can't leave the pets out of the mix when it comes to sweet treats. That's why during Pet Talk with Dr. Jen Klabunde with Northwood Hospital we talked about two recipes for your dog and cat.
Dr. Klabunde says the recipes are pet safe and even healthy for your four legged friends.
Here are the two recipes:
Kitty Tuna Treats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup water
1 TB oil
1 (3 oz.) snack size can of tuna
2 tsp. chicken bouillon granules
Combine ingredients, roll into tiny balls
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes
Honey Oat Dog Treats
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 tsp. tumeric
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup water
2 eggs
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl (except for cornmeal)
Add wet ingredients & mix
Sprinkle cornmeal on wax paper so it doesn't stick
Cut with dog bone cookie cutter and bake at 325 degrees for 30-40 minutes
