LAKE ANN -- Rescue crews are at the scene of a plane crash in Benzie County.

It happened around 11:15 a.m. at the Lake Ann airport off of County Road 669. The plane crashed near the airfield in the yard of a home.

The 88-year-old pilot suffered a broken ankle and facial cuts.  He was alert and talking to rescue crews when he was taken to Munson Medical Center. 

The pilot tells investigators he crashed during takeoff when his engine cut-out.  No one on the ground was hurt.
