PETOSKEY -- Fans of UpNorthLive's Facebook page voted to hear more about a Halloween costume exchange.

Forget the traditional orange and black of Halloween past ... you can have a 'green' Halloween by taking part in a costume exchange!  The idea was created by The Great Start Parent Coalition and Char-Em ISD

Parents can bring gently used Halloween costumes for exchange or take home a Halloween costume during the family-themed event.  In addition to the costume exchange, young children and families can enjoy pumpkin decorating, treats and games such as Mummy Wrap and Squash Bowling.  The first 50 children will even get a free pumpkin to take home!

"We are encouraging families to join us for a 'green' Halloween and recycle their past years' costumes for another," said Maureen Hollocker, Great Start Coalition Director for Charlevoix, Emmet and northern Antrim Counties.

Families that do not have gently used costumes for exchange are welcome to attend and find a costume for their child.  The event is geared for children birth-12 years old.

The Halloween Costume Exchange will be held Sunday, Oct. 16 from 2-4 p.m..
It will take place at:
ISD Taylor School for Exceptional Learners
1515 Cemetery Road
Petoskey
(behind the Petoskey Cinema)

For more information on the event contact Great Start Parent Liaison Mandy Peterson at 231-582-8070. Although reservations are not required they are appreciated by calling Peterson.
