TRAVERSE CITY -- Hundreds gathered in a parking lot in downtown Traverse City for an afternoon of dancing. And it was all to celebrate Native American Day.

Oryana's Natural Food Market hosted a mini-powwow Sunday afternoon. The event featured drumming, and beautiful dancers in full ceremonial dress.

There were also several demonstrations by native craftspeople and tasty samplings of traditional harvest soup and fry bread.

Organizers say its all about educating the community about the culture and celebrating the Native American community.
