GAYLORD, MI -- The Gaylord Police Department and Michigan State Police are investigating a rash of storage break-ins.

Gaylord police say 49 storage units at the "APS Mini Warehouse" had busted locks and thousands of dollars worth of items stolen, including large televisions, fishing equipment and jewelry.

The same night, someone broke into 11 units at "Northend Storage," where a moped and jewelry were stolen.

Police say it's still unclear exactly how much was ripped off at this time.

"We're trying to talk to all of the victims of the storage units, have them do an inventory of their storage units, find out what's missing," said Gaylord Police Chief Joe Fitzgerald.

"They make a special lock, it's a round, circular lock, and it's cut proof. The bolt cutters can't cut through that, and I would highly recommend if you have a storage unit, to get one of those locks," said Michigan State Police Trooper Robert Krupa.

Thieves also stole an off-road vehicle from the Gaylord Soccer Complex that police are also looking for.
