EMMET CO., MI -- The Emmet County Sheriff's Office is investigating a death west of the Mackinac Bridge.

Sheriff Pete Wallin says the Coast Guard called his office on Monday and reported an "unresponsive subject in the water."  Coast Guard recovery teams pulled 19 year-old Jacob Greaves from the water.  Greaves is from Saline and was pronounced dead at Mackinaw City Marina.

The Sheriff said it appears Greaves left his family's campsite in Wawatam Township in a canoe around 4 a.m. to canoe to St. Ignace or Mackinac Island.
