CRAWFORD CO., MI -- UPDATE-- Avery Parker has been found and has been arrested in Detroit.

Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield tells 7&4 Parker was arrested early Tuesday morning in a Detroit neighborhood by the Detroit Michigan State Police Fugitive Team, Michigan State Police Technical Services, and the U.S. Marshal's Office.

Parker will be brought back up to Northern Michigan and to Crawford County Jail, where he has charges of six felony counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st degree to unlawful imprisonment and aggravated domestic violence.

In a news release, Sheriff Crawford thanked local citizens and the media for their help and attention "to this most serious criminal event."

Sheriff’s Deputies in Crawford County are searching for a suspected rapist who they say is extremely dangerous and could be armed.

The Sheriff tells 7&4 News the suspect attacked a woman early Saturday morning and he's been on the loose ever since.

Police say the woman escaped the sexual assault and wandered for hours in the woods near Steckert Bridge Road in South Branch Township.  Now, police are looking for the suspect, who they consider extremely dangerous.

The hunt is on for 45 year-old Avery Robert Parker, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds.  Sheriff Kirk Wakefield said early Saturday morning, Parker repeatedly raped and beat up a 47 year-old South Branch Township woman.

“She talked him into letting her get a drink of water, she goes into the kitchen, grabs a towel, and takes off, all she's got on is a t-shirt and towel wrapped around her, takes off into the woods to get away from the guy," said Wakefield, explaining how the woman got away.

The victim ended up at a neighbor's house and the neighbors drove her to the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Wakefield said the two knew each other, but wouldn't explain how.

“He beat her up pretty good," said Wakefield.  We asked her if she’s doing ok.  “Physically, I’d assume, but mentally, who knows, it's hard to say."

Parker has a rap sheet.  He's been busted for drugs and assault before and has spent time in prison.

"I don't know about the community, but it concerns me, being so close," said South Branch Township resident Deanna Weiler, who lives nearby.

"Attention all units, attention all units, a “BOL” for multiple CSC, one counts felony assault, subject's driving a 1988 ford pickup," said a 911 dispatcher as he toned out a be on the lookout to officers.

The Sheriff believes the older truck is a brownish-tan color with a black hood and black door and a cracked windshield.  A "be on the lookout" (BOL) warning has been sent to police throughout the state.

“The public should not approach him, because he's been to prison, he's going back to prison, there ain't no doubt about it," said Sheriff Wakefield.

"The quicker you get him off the streets, it's good, they should be put in jail for sometime, you know?" said Crawford County resident Tim McCaleb.

If you see this man, call 911 immediately.

Again, the Sheriff reminds you do not approach this man, he could be extremely dangerous.
