Facebook Story of the Day: Summer camp programs

TRAVERSE CITY -- Monday's Facebook story of the day focuses on the daycare dilemma parents face during the summer months.

Now is the time for parents to plan for their childcare.

Programs like the YMCA, Munson Childcare, and Traverse City Area Public Schools summer camps usually fill up fast.

The cost of the programs for full time care is about $93 to $145 a week.

Some programs also offer a hot breakfast and lunch options included in the price. The YMCA is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Several programs offer a weekly field trip.

The Salvation Army also has a low cost summer care option - but parents mark your calendars for next February, because that's when they start filling the 50 spots for the following summer.

The cost is a flat fee of $300 for the entire summer of care. They do have a waiting list that is growing for any open spots.

There are also options if you are just looking for a week or two of fun ... check out the College for Kids Program at Northwestern Michigan College, or the Cool Tech Camp for sixth, seventh and eight graders at the TBA Career Tech Center.
