TRAVERSE CITY -- The rain came down pretty hard Saturday morning but that didn't stop folks from lacing up their running shoes and helping the less fortunate in northern Michigan.

Hundreds of runners and walkers hit the streets to support Goodwill Inn's Third Annual Run for Shelter event.

The money raised will support the goodwill inn. The run is a special event especially for those that have benefited from the Goodwill Inn and are now running to show their appreciation.

Former Goodwill Inn Resident Andrew Welton says, "It gave me all sorts of services, helped me find housing, got me into a job at Goodwill Industries and just basically made me get back on my feet and it's just a really great organization!"

Organizers say they raised almost $7,000 dollars last year and are hoping to raise $8,000 dollars this year.
