LANSING -- Thousands of protesters rallied at the State Capitol Wednesday, they're upset over Governor Snyder's plans to raise and cut taxes on businesses.

Maple City Resident Gwenne Allgaier says, "People are fired up about this because this is attacking our very way of life."

Buses packed with protestors took off bright and early from Traverse City. Their destination is the State Capitol and their message is 'We are the People.'  And the people are not happy with Governor's Snyder’s budget plans.

Traverse City Resident Pat Maher says, "The issue is not a union or non union issue it's really an assault on the working middle class in this state."

Maher says, "They’re attacking the very structure of our life of our democracy of the middle class and their giving that money to the wealthy corporations."

In the last few weeks several protests were held at the Capitol, sparked by Governor Snyder's efforts to give sweeping new powers to emergency financial managers and his plan to tax pensions.

Last night Snyder agreed not to tax seniors over age 66, but protesters today say he's still forcing residents to pay for business tax cuts.

Maher says, "It's the same old story let’s put taxes on the people that shouldn't be taxed and give corporations and companies tax breaks to create jobs, and they aren't creating jobs!"

The 2 buses from Traverse City joined dozens of others from across the State lining the streets outside the Capitol. There were thousands of protestors that filed out to show leaders who they represent.

Allgaier says, "He's raising taxes on the working poor elderly he's cutting our school budgets, he's cutting our children's future which is our future."

Protestors plan to attend a Northwest Michigan Council of Governments meeting next Monday -- where they'll speak to state reps, senators and local government officials.
