TRAVERSE CITY -- Some Traverse City students will soon have new technology at their fingertips.

Traverse City Area Public Schools will be distributing 3,400 netbook computers to 9th and 10th grade students at TC Central, TC High School and TC West Senior High this month as a part of the One2World Program.

"The One2World Program enhances TCAPS' high school smaller learning communities to personalize tools for students and create a more relevant and rigorous learning experience that help students to learn whenever, wherever, and how ever best suits individual needs," commented TCAPS' Director of Technology Todd Neibauer. "TCAPS is very excited to provide this learning tool for our students."

Each computer comes with an extra battery, memory card and a carrying case for $502.00.   The money comes from a technology/capital bond approved by voters.  The money was already earmarked for the project and cannot be spent on any other expenses.

All TCAPS' high school students in grades 9-12 will receive a One2World netbook in Fall 2011.

The dates of the first phase of distribution are below:

TC Central High School Thursday, March 17th

TC High School Week of March 21st

TC West Senior High School Friday, March 18th
