City commission to address Tabu Lounge Concerns
TRAVERSE CITY -- Tonight Traverse City Commissioners will continue discussions on Tabu Lounge. Several businesses and residents have raised concerns over the club that promises live showgirls for patrons at the downtown location.
Last week, the city attorney brought some options to the city commission on dealing with those concerns. Traverse City Mayor Chris Bzdok wrote on his blog that the city would not look at steps that would shut the business down, but will help address concerns.
For example, city commissioners will talk about restricting the hours of operation of all entertainment businesses in the downtown to a 2 a.m. closing time. They will also talk about installing a security camera to monitor the alley between the Union Street bars and Tabu Lounge.
Mayor Bzdok said they will discuss a moratorium on certain types of sexually themed entertainment activities that may or may not apply to what is occuring at Tabu Lounge.
