White House Council on Environmental Quality Asian Carp Director John Goss will discuss the Administration’s coordinated Asian Carp Control Strategy Framework at public meetings this Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City.  The meetings are at 2:15 PM and 5:45 PM.

The meetings, hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will provide the public an opportunity to comment on the Corps’ Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study, also known as GLIMRIS.  Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, Grand Traverse Band Chairman Derek Bailey and Rep. Wayne Schmidt will also attend.

As director of the coordinated effort between Federal, state, and local entities, Goss will highlight proactive and collaborative efforts underway to combat Asian carp.  The GLIMRIS study is one component of this muti-tiered, unprecedented approach to defeating invasive species.

We will have a reporter at the meeting and bring you a complete wrap up on 7&4 News at 11.
