Partiers won't be the only one out in full force this New Year's Eve, so will officers.
Officers in 35 Michigan counties will continue stepped up drunk driving patrols through the holiday weekend as part of the Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest. crackdown.
During last year's crackdown, almost 300 people were arrested for drunk driving and while alcohol-related fatalities continue to fall, crashes involving alcohol are still eight times more likely to result in death.
More than 200 law enforcement agencies will continue the patrols paid for with federal traffic safety funds administered by OHSP.
Participating counties include Allegan, Barry, Bay, Berrien, Calhoun, Cass, Chippewa, Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Grand Traverse, Houghton, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Marquette, Monroe, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oakland, Ottawa, Saginaw, St. Clair, Tuscola, Van Buren, Washtenaw, Wayne and Wexford.
