A dialysis center is celebrating their third year in the Kalkaska Community.

Kalkaska Memorial Health Center's Dialysis Center opened their doors in December of 2007, and the state-of-the-art dialysis center continues to grow and prosper in the community and offer dialysis to the community's patients and vacationers who visit Northern Michigan.

"If someone visits our unit today, they will find it remains clean and beautiful.  We have a great staff who look at our patients as part of our extended family," said Janine Diebel, R.N., Director of Dialysis Services.

Right now, the center has 37 patients and is open six days a week.  It opened initially for three days during the week.

Hospital Administrator Jim Austin said the decision to build the facility has proven to be extremely positive for the community.

"This is something that our board initially saw as a way to help area residents who need dialysis stay close to home, especially this time of the year when roads are difficult to travel," he said. "We continue to be very pleased with facility operations and look forward to continued service in the years to come."
