CADILLAC -- It is a special gift left in a red kettle that will stretch a long way in helping the Cadillac community.
An anonymous donor dropped a gold coin in the Salvation Army Red Kettle located at the Wal-Mart in Cadillac. The Canadian 22k gold coin contains a 1/2 ounce of pure gold. The estimated value is believed to be between $600 to $900.
The bell ringer didn't realize the treasure the kettle held until it was opened up to count the money. Officials were thrilled at the discovery and say at this point the plan is to cash the coin in.
Captain Nance stated that after this past weekend of fund-raising for the Cadillac area, that they are currently at $46,500.00 of their $55,000.00 goal.
