TRAVERSE CITY -- There are new details about Munson Medical Center's plan to build a state-of-the-art cancer center.
Munson's Board is looking at property in Copper Ridge to build the new $50 million dollar facility.
The land is located on Silver Lake Road across from Traverse City West Middle School in Garfield Township.
Munson President and CEO Ed Ness tells 7&4 News while a Cancer Center remains a priority, Munson still is facing financial challenges in making any expansion a reality.
Ness says, "No final decision on the location or scope of the cancer has been made by the Munson Medical Center Board. Any decision by Munson Medical Center will depend on our ability to secure funding for the project."
Ness also says that Munson received a three year extension on the option to purchase another piece of land in Copper Ridge to build a public parking deck.
He says this is something that has to happen if they are going to build a cancer center or expand outpatient services.
