A Charlevoix man is dead after a rollover crash Thursday evening.

It happened at 6:12 p.m. on Lakeshore Drive near Spring Street in Charlevoix Township.  Rescue crews found the Pontiac Firebird on its roof in the rocks on the lake shore.

The driver of the vehicle, 58 year old James Seeger of Charlevoix was trapped in the car. 

The fire department used the Jaws of Life along with a mobile crane from Bergmann Marine to extricate Seeger.  Officials say he suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.  Seeger died early Friday morning.

The crash continues to be investigated by the Charlevoix County Sheriff's Office accident reconstruction investigator.
