GLEN HAVEN -- This weekend the National Park Service Rangers will be recreating a shipwreck beach patrol.
They are asking people to join them this Saturday at the Sleeping Bear Dunes to relive history.
Traditionally most shipwrecks on the Great Lakes occurred in the Fall and the US Life Saving Services would walk the beaches every night to look for ships in distress.
Chief Visitor of Services Lisa Myers encourages people to take part in the recreation and says "theĀ US Saving Service is a huge part of this history because of the water and you actually get a chance to participate so you're not just sitting looking at something you're exploring and discovering along with everyone else and you're learning."
If you are interested in joining the adventure they will be meeting at 7:30 tomorrow night at the Sleeping Bear Point Life-Saving Service Station-Maritime Museum in Glen Haven.
