PETOSKEY -- 7&4 has learned the identity of the gunman who committed suicide Wednesday.

He's been identified as 32-year-old Petoskey resident Charles Anthony Steele.

An update on the breaking news out of Petoskey involving a gunman.

7 & 4 News has confirmed the gunman is dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 9:45 a.m..

Officials say the gunman was a 32-year-old from Petoskey, and the standoff started as a domestic situation.

The man was spotted with a gun along the Bear River near Buckley Street in Petoskey around 8:00 Wednesday morning.  The Petoskey Public Safety established a perimeter around the area of concern.

All of the Petoskey Public Schools were in lockdown but that lockdown has been lifted.
