CADILLAC -- We have an update on the storms that caused damage in Wexford and Roscommon Counties on Sunday evening.
The National Weather Service in Gaylord has confirmed that a weak EF-0 tornado touched down at 6:56 pm. The tornado remained on the ground for two minutes a few miles south of Cadillac. It was estimated to reach a maximum intensity of 65 miles per hour with winds causing damage to a steel roof.
The fallen trees on the north side of Houghton Lake were *not* caused by a tornado. The storm survey team from the National Weather Service estimated wind gusts in excess of 65 mph with that thunderstorm.
