GREEN BAY, WI -- A helicopter crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City rescued a jet skier near Green Bay Wisconsin.

A call was made by the missing man's wife.  The Coast Guard crew aboard the Air Station Traverse City HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter, and a Station Sturgeon Bay 25-foot response boat found the man around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The aircrew found the hypothermic man in the water holding onto his overturned jet ski. He was wearing a life jacket.

The man told the Coast Guard his jet ski broke down at approximately 7 p.m. and he was unable to keep the personal watercraft upright in the water.

"White caps caused by windy conditions made locating the overturned jet ski very difficult," said Lt. Shawn McMillan, a member of the Traverse City aircrew. "Once the jet skier was spotted, we were able to rescue him quickly and get him to the airport where EMS was waiting to transport him to the hospital."

The man was taken to Bellin Hospital in Green Bay for treatment.
