Businesses Shine In Memorial Day Sun

NORTHERN MICHIGAN -- Whether it's the economy rebounding or the beautiful weather, local businesses are projecting a big Memorial Day weekend.
“We are seeing a little bit of an up-tick…not knowing exactly what we can attribute it to yet but there is a little bit of an up-tick going on,” said Jim Spinniken, owner of Wild Cherry Resort in Leelanau County.
Spinniken said his resort is seeing record numbers for this time of year, and he is not the only camp ground that is thriving.
A spokesperson for the Traverse City State Park said their camp ground is booked through the holiday weekend.
Enjoying wine is another way people plan on enjoying their Memorial Day weekend.
The owner of Forty-Five North Vineyard and Winery said he anticipates on having his busiest weekend so far this year.
“We have four or five buses that plan to come in…it’s nice for them to call ahead of time so we can be prepared…we are expecting it to be crowded we have extra pourers for the weekend and the weather is just going to bring people in,” said Steven Grossnickle, owner of Forty-Five North Vineyard and Winery.
