STAR TWP. -- An Antrim County community will benefit from a federal grant for first responders.

Star Township Fire Department in Alba will get $6,300 from the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP).

The total amount of grant money split between four Michigan emergency responder organizations totaled $931,236.

The funding will be used to help address a variety of equipment, training, and other firefighter-related and EMS needs.

The AFGP awards grants directly to fire departments and EMS organizations to improve the effectiveness of operations and health and safety programs, and to establish or expand fire prevention programs throughout the United States.   You can get more information on the grant program by CLICKING HERE.
