BEULAH -- While executing a search warrant, Benzie County Sheriff’s Deputies removed about 250 marijuana plants from a house in the Village of Beulah.

“Obviously this was not just an amateur growing operation. This was not the first time they were growing marijuana. They were very well schooled and they knew what they were doing,” said Rory Heckman, Benzie County Sheriff.

During Monday’s raid, Benzie County Deputies arrested Ralph James Hornsby, 34, for his role in the growing operation.

Along with the plants, police confiscated cash, lighting equipment, irrigation equipment and ventilation equipment.

The value of the marijuana, equipment and cash seized is estimated to be $250,000.

Sheriff Heckman said Hornsby could face up to four years in prison.
