ACME TOWNSHIP --  Wayne Kladder has been the Acme Township Supervisor for more than two years, and he is using his passion for the outdoors to help raise money for the Acme Shoreline Preservation Initiative.

“Currently we are $284,000 short, so the Carls Foundation came up and said we would like to do a matching grant with Acme Township,” Kladder said.

The Carls Foundation will match donations up to $100,000. Acme has until June to meet their fundraising quota.

The project is designed to create more public space along the 10 mile stretch of shoreline in Acme Township.

“We need to have more opportunities for our residents to get in there and go fishing, swimming, kayaking and those kinds of things,” Kladder said.

Currently, less than a mile of shoreline is available for public use. That is a statistic Kladder hopes to change.
