TRAVERSE CITY -- For Milan Baic, competitive skiing is his passion.

"It's what I enjoy doing in my leisure time.  I also do some ski instruction during the winter time. So, I guess technically I might be a professional," says Baic.

The competitive skier has been participating in the VASA races since he was 16.  This past weekend he won the 27K for the third time in a row.

"I had a real good competition, the conditions were great," says Baic.

He's now heading to an even bigger competition...on Wednesday he's flying to Sweden for the World Masters Championships for Nordic Ski Racing.  Baic has been racing in the annual event since 2004 and says at age 50 his competitive drive is stronger than ever.

"I've found out this is the best masters skiers in the world.  So, I've made friends from Russia, France, Italy...It's intense these guys are old like I am but they are intense.  I enjoy the competitiveness of it and that's what's really kept me going on this World Masters just because it's so competitive," says Baic.

Baic says he'll be racing in four events during the course of six days with a major finale during his last week.

"I'll stay one more week and do the largest, oldest marathon ski race in the world which is the 90K which is 55 miles, 90K Swedish VASA Open and that will happen on March 7th...There's so many variables so when you put that perfect day together it doesn't mean you're going to be on the podium.  But I'm hoping to have one of those perfect days," says Baic.

There is a World Masters championship website that people can go on, to keep track of his progress during the competitions.  That website is: http://www.mwc2010.com/
