TRAVERSE CITY -- Local utilities are working on ways to use more alternative energy.  One option is wood-fuel biomass and Traverse City Light and Power is considering it.

A study session is being held Thursday night to discuss the availability of wood-fuel in the area that could be used for a biomass plant.

Building one of the facilities fits into TCLP's plan to generate 30 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.

The study session will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the TCLP offices on Hastings Street.
