A Northern Michigan soldier is taking some time off from his military duties - for a front row seat at one of the premiere high school sporting events of the year.

It's the US Army All-American Bowl game. It happened Saturday is San Antonio and you may have seen it right here on 7 & 4. Army Sergeant Nathan Alan Scott of Newaygo was among the servicemen and women chose as a "Soldier Hero" for his service to our country. Sergeant Scott is based at Fort Riley, Kansas as a combat medic.

And this week he was paired up with high schooler Keenan Allen from North Carolina. The two got to know each other and participate in team events and activities all week long. 

Sgt. Scott went to Morley-Stanwood High School. He also wants to say hi to his family - they still live in Newaygo.
