Boyne City receives thousands in state grants to update Old City Park.
BOYNE CITY -- Families in one Charlevoix community will soon have a nicer place to spend time outside, thanks to thousands in state grants.
Boyne City Manager Michael Cain says the city has been given 3 grants totaling several hundred thousand dollars to fix up the Old City Park. He says one grant will help improve the park , the second will be used to re-do Park and River streets on either side of the park, and the third will be used to tear down an old building across the street from the park.
Last night a public input meeting was held to help get ideas on what public would like to see done with the park. If you missed that meeting there are three more you can still go to.
The Planning Commission will review the plans on March 16 at 5 p.m.
The Park Recreations Commission will take a look at it on March 19 at 7 p.m.
Finally the City Commission will take a last look at the plans on March 24 at 12 p.m.
Public Comment is welcomed at each meeting.
